When Our Plans Become God’s Plans

By: John Ogden, Sr.

“But the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the Lord your God cares; the eyes of the Lord your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year. And it shall be that if you diligently obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock that you may eat and be filled. (Deut 11:11-15)

Moses, speaking to the children of Israel, states the requirements for remaining in God’s provision: “to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” His purpose is to remind them that they have to make a daily decision to be faithful to God in order for God’s plans for their lives to be fulfilled. It is only when we love God with all of our being that we begin to lay down our priorities to pick up God’s priorities. And only then can He take us to the Promised Land or to the next level that He has called us to. God sees us where we are, but He also looks beyond where we are to the place of His calling.

There is an additional promise (commitment) in these scriptures that God will also provide both an early and latter rain for the land, so that we may gather our grain, new wine and oil. This speaks to the provisions of life. When we submit our will to His will He will meet all of our needs. He is the provider in all the phases of our lives. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all of these things shall be added unto you.” (Mark 6:33)

Are we willing to allow God to perfect His will in our life, trust Him to do what only He can do and by faith in Him receive the plan and the destiny for our lives?
